Happy memories of meeting Gwen on two of the visits that she and Rex made to England. My mother Rosemary, daughter of Lewis Archbold, was one of her English cousins.
Such a lovely person. I'll never forget her amazing, life-filled letters, which were a joy to receive. Gwen was one of a kind.
Dear Gwen was a very good friend of my late mother's (Reta Newman) when they worked together at Duncan and Davies in New Plymouth in the seventies! Gwen was always caring, up-beat and spiritual. Remembered with great fondness. Rest in Peace lovely lady.

To Gwen's family, I send my condolensces. I sat in class with Fran at Westown School. I remember staying with the Brewsters and was fascinated by the collection of soap bits hanging from the bath tap. Whether they were boiled and remade into cakes, I can't remember. And over the back fence of my childhood home were more Brewsters - of the Beehive House. I hope you all have heaps of happy memories to sustain you going forward. Best regards, GillianGillian Lobb ( 13 Feb 2021 )
Such a grand innings for such a great lady! Gwen certainly made the most of her fulfilling life with her cool attitude, upbeat manner, caring disposition and quirky sense of humour. Our family lived in the the same street as hers, and with children of the same age, friendships were easily forged, some even enduring to this day. Gwen took a keen interest in all our lives as we grew up and left the neighbourhood nest and she leaves a legacy of memories of all the good times shared together when we were in and out of each other's homes. Through the sad times when our parents passed away, Gwen's compassion shone through with her loving support and hospitality and we have a lot to thank her for. It was a privilege to have known such a positive lady and role model and we were so fortunate that she chose to live in our street.
Farewell Gwen, R.I.P.
