Was really looking forward to catching up with you Muzz, after the lockdown. That will have to wait for a bit now..
You were always chirpy and keen to help (and have a beer), no matter what.
Will miss you mate.
Very sorry to hear of your loss Kaye and family. Thinking also of you Greg and Fi. It's been a while since we met Murray but we remember him as being a real character.Dennis & Evelyn Mills ( 25 May 2020 )
It's been a tough day saying goodbye to someone who has been around my whole life, someone I just expected to
be around forever.
Strong, healthy and so alive... so full of enthusiasm and a great sense of humour... a solid part of my solid family, which has now been broken down.
It just seems so surreal and so unfair when someone leaves so suddenly, especially when it is so unexpected.
We will all miss you Uncle Murray. The Mac do's will never be the same without your sense of humour and your sense of urgency to help Grandma when she needs you.
The early days when you didn't realise your strength and would horsey-bite me and tickle me, thinking it was funny, until I cried. Carrying me down the hallway on your foot like I was a featherweight, I actually thought you were bulletproof.
Unfortunately life can be so unfair, but we will remember you and savour the precious memories we have.
Until we meet again 💗💗💗
Kaye, Blair, Zoe and Jared so sorry for the loss you're experiencing for such a great man. He may be gone but will be very hard to forget such a big personality.
Murray you were one in a million, the first of the in-laws to make me feel part of the family and the one I'd know was always keen for a beer and laugh at all the family get togethers. You'll leave a big hole wherever you've been, but always remembered fondly by all those that you've met along the way.
Will always remember your best tip for my shitty golf "bend your knees like you're about to sit on the toilet". Rest In Peace big man and know that you'll be dearly missed.
To Kaye and the Rook family,
We were shocked and saddened to hear of Murray's sudden departure. He was a legend in so may ways. My memories of Muzz -
-Hearing about him and the Rook family in the Star rugby days via my brother in law Barry Shotter
-Muzz picking up the challenge of looking after the kids at Woodleigh Cubs when no-one else was able to
-Playing the odd round of golf and then the "banter" (a great word used a lot today) about Westown and New Plymouth Golf clubs
-Always looking after us with any Electrical advice and supplies
RIP Muzz - you really were a good bugga, and all our sympathies to you Kaye and the wider family.
Craig and Jan Knowles
Rooky was a person that made everybody he met feel like one of the family! I only got to know Rooky through golf at Westown GC, (15 years ago)but became a ardent admirer of his peole skills. He inspired me to just enjoy the game of golf and not take it too seriously. He also taught me to just watch what happens before poking your oar into some situations.(Many a time on our tours he would just sit back and watch was going on then decide who was going t get some grief!! Haha) I also was one of the lucky ones to go on tour (Taranaki Terrors) with Rooky, once to Queenstown and then to the Sunshine Coast Australia. Both were some of the best times of my limited golfing career and will never be forgotten. He was one of the quiet people but when he spoke eveybody listened and a lot the time he was giving somebody a bit of stick!! I'm sure we will find some way to honour Rooky so he will never leave our memory and will support the charity of Kaye or the Rook familys choice!
Murray, you were one of a kind. A big loving bear, but sometimes a scary one lol..I will always cherish the time we had together, you were someone I will always respect and miss from the bottom of my heart. I am going to miss hearing your voice. It's just never going to be the same without you.Thinking of Kaye and your family at this sad time.
Dearest Uncle Murray,
I still cant believe you have left us. So many memories you have left us with from horsie bites, wedgies and helping me to walk on the ceiling. I cant say I have any bad memories of you, you were cheeky and funny and the Mac Christmas will never be the same without you.
Your neice Krissy and family
To Kaye and family
i would like to pass on my deepest condolences to yourselves and to all of Murrays family members and friends.
I first worked with Murray in 1988, and immediately worked out that he was a good bugger.
Murray later became one of my main customers when i joined a supplier company to the electrical industry.
I always found to him be a fair but firm negotiator.
Murray always seemed to have a smile on his face a hearty welcome.
One thing that will always stay with me, was that I had been away from the electrical industry for a number of years.
I joined the company I am with now and took over the Taranaki area.
One of my first calls was to (then) Stewarts Taranaki. When I walked through the door the very first thing I heard was the strong voice of Murray of saying " bugger hes back". as soon as I heard that I knew I was going to be have a very good day.
Murray I had the privilege of calling you a friend, and you will be surely missed by me and many others.
Dear Kaye and family,
A fitting tribute to Murray today, for sure. Having known Murray from the T&J days (when Ken was a customer) many of us have shared the road of life with Murray - and thoroughly enjoyed the journey with him. From myself, and on behalf of those who dealt with Murray at Kraus & Naimer, please accept our condolences and we hope you find comfort in your memories of Murray at this difficult time. He was one of the good guys. RIP. Bruce Robb

Rookie was in Kiwi slang a "good bugger". It was always a pleasure to be around him on or off the golf course. He had a positive slant on life and this rubbed off on you when in his company. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.

When I first met Murray he was on training wheels he rode a wasp to work I called it a scooter he called it a bike 50 cc with gears. We went on to have kids and Blair came to Woodligh Cub group where I was the Cub leader I tryed to get Murray to become a leader he only wanted to help he was there every cub night and all the camps but at camps Saturday mornings no Murray to be found the call of the little white ball was to much, for the rest of the camp he was all in, thanks big boy.

Shocked at the sudden passing of Murray, our thoughts are with you all.Peter and Sharon Christensen ( 21 May 2020 )
Codolences to Kaye and those left behind, I know Rookie passing too soon will leave a massive gap. I always thought I would catch up again one day, hopefully now it will have to wait a while. My earlier memories as a youngster watching him burst onto the rugby scene with Star and his serious knee injury, through to playing alongside him, his year of playing softball, the straight advice he always gave even if it wasnt what you wanted to hear are ones that will stay with me forever. I am fortunate to have known Murray Rook.Mark and Angela Ryder ( 21 May 2020 )
