Alexander William Kuriger (Alex) 1933 – 2000
It is very difficult to put into words how much I have appreciated the kindness and empathy John Eagar and his daughter Casey Martin showed to me and my extended family at the sudden death of my beloved husband Alex from heart failure. Casey’s gentle, but firm manner bought calmness to the chaotic few hours after Alex’s death. To help us deal with our shock Casey very wisely suggested we take an extra day to organise the funeral service. This extra time enabled my daughters to design the service sheet and family to plan a very personal celebration of Alex’s life. My sons prepared the family station wagon to use as the funeral car. Their pride in taking their Dad to the church for the Requiem Mass and then to the place of burial was a huge comfort. My family still talks of how special that time was for each of them. It really helped in the grieving process. Eagar’s Funeral Services have my highest recommendation because of their attention to every detail of the funeral. Casey answered all our questions, she listened to our ideas and made suggestions that helped to make the service very personal for us. In the weeks that followed I really appreciated Casey and John calling at our home to see how I and my family were coping. Their friendship and genuine concern helped us through the first difficult weeks.

Upon the death of a much loved mother and grandmother, Casey became a most welcome constant in our lives for the time that we needed Eagars Funeral Services. From the moment we contacted Casey she displayed flawless professionalism, compassion and guidance. At all times Casey delivered this service as if we were the only people she had to deal with in her busy professional and personal life. On those occasions when Casey was not able to answer our calls, other members of Eagars Funeral Services delivered the same degree of service and each one gave a sense of being very familiar with our personal loss.
Each aspect of Eagars service was undertaken to our satisfaction. While we wish that we still had our mother with us, we can look back on the funeral and the preparation that Eagars undertook and feel very happy with every aspect of that time.
Although a funeral business is a business, we were treated as friends who needed to be cared for and were treated so kindly.

Dear William and staff
Just a quick note to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for all of your care and compassion you extended to us all in the passing of Charlie. You are all very special people and you have helped us all deal with this difficult time better than we thought we ever could.
Our sincere thanks; you will all be in our hearts forever.

Seven months ago our family lost, very suddenly, it’s Matriarch, (a wife, mother and grandmother). Eagars Funeral Services arrived and instantly put my family at ease with their professional, but very empathetic manner. They guided us through the process and offered great advice and a calming presence when emotions were high and spirits were low. Nothing was too big a problem and the service provided was faultless, we were treated like the most important people in their world.
So, a month ago, with the sudden death of my dear friend and father of my two sons, I knew there was only one call to make and I wasn’t disappointed.
Once again Eagars Funeral Services delivered a flawless and empathetic service; they were absolutely amazing with my young sons. When Mum died Eagars name had been given to us with the highest recommendation and after dealing with them, twice now, I certainly know why.

Thanks for the wonderful job you did last week. Dad was right on the mark when he stipulated ‘Casey or no-one’ for the role. I know Mum has a similar view and as much as it can be, the whole process including Hospice, death and funeral was a good experience. Thanks again for the quality you brought to the enterprise.
We miss Dad a lot, but are also thankful that he died well and had a good send-off. (And thanks for helping out with Hana’s query yesterday – I didn’t realise she was calling you on a Sunday!)
Kimberly John (Kim) Rogers 1955 – 2003
Almost four years ago my husband, Kim, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly whilst we were holidaying in Melbourne. Aside from the shock and grief which all my family experienced, the hardest things for me to cope with was having to return to my children in New Zealand and leaving my husband in Australia. It took two further days for him to be returned to us in Stratford. During this time I was extremely grateful to Casey who, from the outset, had liaised with the Australian funeral company and who constantly kept me informed of Kim’s flight details, when the flight had departed, had arrived in New Zealand and finally when he was safely in the care of Casey’s late father, John, who had driven to Auckland to bring him home. It was very comforting and helped make me feel less uncomfortable that I had left Kim in Melbourne. Casey’s care and gentleness during that difficult period was highly valued by me and my children.
