Meet the team

The staff at Eagars Funeral Services respect the choices made by families at a time of loss, and work closely with them to ensure that the service provided is as special and unique as the person they mourn. Regardless of whether a funeral follows time honoured traditions and rituals, or is 'outside the square', Eagars believe that the most important aspect of the funeral service is that it is carried out in the way a family has requested. Funerals do not need to be 'one size fits all'.

Casey Martin:

As a third generation Funeral Director, Casey brings a wealth of experience to Eagars Funeral Services. Casey joined the business in 1992, helping her father, John, after she returned from training race horses in Japan. This temporary assistance grew into a full time role and Casey has been actively involved in the business ever since. Following John's sudden death in 2004, Casey assumed the role of Managing Director and has successfully managed the business along with a busy family life.

Married to Richard and mother to Isaac and Emerson, Casey places great value on family and applies that to Funeral Directing by ensuring families are supported, informed and cared for at a difficult time. Casey takes pride in the fact that Eagars Funeral Services works to provide individual, tailored services and has a reputation for being Taranaki's caring professionals.

William Eagar:

The son of John and Rae Eagar, William is a third generation funeral director. He joined Eagars funeral services in late 2004 after a career in the hospitality industry, working in some of the top restaurants in Wellington, where he developed a strong sense of service, a belief that no problem is to big or small to over look, and an attention to detail that has served him well in his new career.

Having lost both his parents, William understands what families are going through when a death occurs, and considers it both an honour and a privilege to be asked to walk beside people through a very difficult time in their lives. He is always available with advice, a few quiet suggestions and an empathic ear. He gets great satisfaction from the knowledge that he has been able to see a family’s wishes carried out and to know that in some way he has helped. He works for the “Thank you’s”.

William is the youngest of four and is the loving brother of Casey, Kerry and Leigh. He is a devoted uncle and loves being part of his niece’s and nephew’s lives. Outside of work William is an avid reader, a bit of a movie buff, has an absolute plethora of utterly useless information stored in his head and believes that he could go all the way on “Who wants to be a millionaire”! He lives in New Plymouth with his two cats Elvis and Lola, and is fighting a losing battle against cat hair.

In 2010 Jan joined our team at Eagars Funeral Services as Office Administrator.   Married to Craig, Jan has been a stay at home Mum as well as assisting with their business for the past 18 years.   They have two children - Melissa, now living away from home and Hayden who is in his last years of school.  Over the years Jan has been involved with Plunket, kindergarten, and school committees helping the community.  She has actively supported her children on camps, sports and other activities.

As the first line of contact, Jan’s role within the company is a supportive one not only to her colleagues, but to the wider community.  She is a very family oriented person and this is what attracted her to joining our team.  Understanding our diversity and families individual needs shows her appreciation to the importance of family values.
